A foundation course in Sharirabhinaya - Lessons in human anatomy for dance
Learn the fundamentals of Natya Shastra-Karanas and Sharirabhinaya: the expression of emotions and ideas through body movements in Indian classical dance. This course will also cover human anatomy, which is essential for understanding body movements and expressions in dance.
The course is taught by Piyal Bhattacharya, who has been researching and practicing Natyashastra, the ancient Indian text on performing arts, for the last 15 years.
Piyal has a wealth of experience in reconstructing Bharata's dance and music tradition of the Natyashastraic period. He has received fellowships from Sangeet Natak Akademi, Ministry of Culture India, and has been conferred with prestigious grants for safeguarding intangible cultural heritage in India.
