About the course
The traditional mural paintings of Kerala are a fine art of skill and creative excellence, which were painted directly onto walls, ceilings or any other permanent surface of temples. These paintings belong to a distinguished lineage with its tradition carrying influences from Ajantha. Some of the Kerala Murals are dated back to the 8th century, most of the noted mural works of Kerala were done between the 15th and 19th century. Today the trend has shifted from wall mural to those painted on canvas and paper
Introduction and some of the prominent motifs of art form like Mashipoovu, Nayakamani, champak etc., The painting follow a set of rules regarding elements, colouring process and techniques. Step by step instruction and detailed explanations on how to draw features like eyes, nose, lips, ears etc, will be given with a complete painting.
- Acrylic / poster colours – yellow ocher, permanent yellow medium, Indian red, scarlet lake, burnt Siena, Sap green, Prussian blue, Black, white,etc.
- Brushes- Flat brush(size : 2, 6), Pointed round brush(size : 2,4), Line brush(size : 0, 000).
- Yellow carbon paper.
- A4 drawing sheets/canvas size:8×10.
- Basic materials like – pencil, sharpener, ruler, eraser, palette,water, waste cloth
