Sant Ravidas (c. 1450–1520), a prominent Bhakti saint and poet from Varanasi, belonged to the leather-working community. Through his powerful devotional hymns (pads), he profoundly shaped the spiritual landscape by strongly advocating social equality and rejecting caste discrimination. His teachings influenced the Bhakti movement deeply and promoted the idea that true devotion to God transcends birth and occupation. Many of his verses are included in the Guru Granth Sahib, making him a revered figure across Sikh and Hindu traditions.
