Jagannath Das (c. 1490–1550), another prominent member of the Panchasakha group, was a celebrated Odia Bhakti poet. He composed the Odia Bhagavata Purana in simple, colloquial language, making the profound spiritual teachings of the Bhagavata accessible to common villagers and people from lower castes. His clear and devotional style democratised spiritual knowledge and greatly enriched Odia literature. He is revered as one of the most important figures in popularising Bhakti in Odisha.
