Avvaiyar I, also known as the Sangam Avvaiyar, was a legendary Tamil woman saint-poet of the Sangam Age (c. 300 BCE – 300 CE). Renowned for her exceptional wisdom and sharp intellect, she composed many didactic poems and ethical verses that became part of classical Sangam literature. Her works, especially Aathichoodi and Konrai Vendhan, offered practical moral guidance and life lessons to people of all ages.
