Thyagaraja (1767–1847), a saint-poet and composer from Tiruvaiyaru, Tamil Nadu, is revered as one of the greatest figures in Carnatic music and the Trinity. A profound devotee of Lord Rama, he composed hundreds of kritis in Telugu filled with deep bhakti, emotional richness, and philosophical insight. His immortal works, including the five Ghana Raga Pancharatnam kritis, elevated devotional music and made Rama bhakti accessible through classical melody. His compositions remain central to Carnatic concerts and temple traditions across South India.
