Madhavadeva (1489–1596), the foremost disciple of Srimanta Sankaradeva, was a brilliant poet, musician, and philosopher of the Ekasarana tradition. He composed around 191 Borgeets (devotional songs) rich in emotional depth and spiritual insight, along with the celebrated Naam Ghosa. His simple yet profound poetry in Brajavali and Assamese made bhakti accessible to common people. Madhavadeva’s works significantly influenced Assamese literature, devotional music, and the cultural heritage of Assam.
