Ramprasad Sen (1718–1775), an 18th-century Shakta saint-poet from Bengal, revolutionised devotional expression through his soulful songs dedicated to Goddess Kali. He shifted the focus of Shakta tantrism from rigid rituals and costly practices to simple, tender, and emotional devotion. His deeply personal and poetic bhajans, known as Ramprasadi, expressed both intense longing and playful familiarity with the Divine Mother. His work made Shakta bhakti accessible and emotionally rich, leaving a lasting impact on Bengali literature, music, and popular devotion.
