Atisha Dipankara (c. 982–1054 CE), also known as Atisha Shrijnana, was a renowned Buddhist scholar, teacher, and monk from Bengal. He authored, translated, and edited numerous important texts on Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism. Invited to Tibet, he played a pivotal role in the revival of Buddhism there by emphasising ethical conduct, compassion, and the integration of Sutra and Tantra. His teachings and writings had a lasting impact on Tibetan Buddhism and its philosophical traditions.
