Yogi Vemana (c. 17th–18th century), a popular Telugu poet-saint and social reformer, is renowned for his simple, sharp, and profound verses known as Vemana Padyalu. Through his vernacular poetry, he made spiritual wisdom, moral values, and social criticism accessible to ordinary people. He strongly criticised caste discrimination, superstition, and ritualism while promoting rational thinking, compassion, and inner purity. His teachings continue to influence Telugu culture and ethical thought across generations.
