Tulsidas (c. 1532–1623), one of the greatest Hindi poets and saints, made the Ramayana accessible to the common people by composing the Ramcharitmanas in simple Awadhi language. Through this epic poem and other devotional works like Hanuman Chalisa, he popularised Rama bhakti across North India. His deeply emotional poetry emphasised devotion, morality, and righteousness. Tulsidas played a pivotal role in making high spiritual knowledge available to ordinary people beyond Sanskrit, significantly enriching Hindi literature and culture.
