Soordas (c. 1478–1583), the blind poet-saint of the Bhakti movement, was a key figure in the Krishna Bhakti tradition. A disciple of Vallabhacharya, he composed thousands of soulful pads in Braj Bhasha, vividly describing the childhood lilas of Lord Krishna. Through his deeply emotional and personal poetry, he popularized intimate bhakti and unwavering faith in the divine. Despite his blindness, his vivid poetic vision made Krishna’s leelas accessible to common people and significantly enriched Hindi devotional literature.
