Thirugnanasambandar (7th century), one of the most revered child saints among the 63 Nayanars, played a crucial role in reviving Shaivism in South India. A prodigious poet from a young age, he composed thousands of devotional hymns in the Tevaram, many of which survive in the first three volumes of the Tirumurai. His emotionally rich poetry set to classical Tamil musical forms (panns) created a new musical and literary culture. Through his pilgrimages and powerful hymns, he strengthened personal devotion to Lord Shiva and significantly contributed to Tamil Shaiva literary heritage.
