Soyarabai, wife of the celebrated saint Chokhamela, was a prominent 14th-century Varkari woman saint from the Mahar community. Through her powerful abhangas, she made significant contributions to Bhakti literature by expressing deep devotion to Lord Vitthal. Her verses highlighted social equality, compassion, and the rejection of caste barriers. As one of the earliest Dalit women voices in Marathi poetry, her works strengthened the inclusive spirit of the Bhakti movement and enriched the spiritual and literary heritage of Maharashtra.
