Sant Dnyaneshwar (1275–1296), the youthful pioneer of the Varkari Bhakti tradition, composed the Dnyaneshwari, a profound Marathi commentary on the Bhagavad Gita, at the age of around 15. By translating complex philosophy into the language of the common people, he made spiritual knowledge accessible beyond caste and class barriers. Along with his siblings, he promoted social unity, equality, and inclusive devotion, laying the foundation for the Bhakti movement in Maharashtra and influencing later saints like Tukaram and Eknath.
